Many wild animals survive their injuries but are unable to be released due to permanent damage. These critters are cared for, fed and kept safe for the rest of their lives at Desert Cry. Many are used in our presentations giving folks like you an opportunity to see wildlife close up.
Once a Desert Tortoise has been in captivity for even just a few hours, it can no longer be returned to the wild. This is because they are exposed to too many pathogens (germs and diseases) that could be carried into the wild and make other tortoises sick or kill them.
You or your group could become a SPONSOR with minimum donation of $50. This will help provide at least one month of care for an animal. This is a great opportunity for Scout, school and church groups as well as individuals. Desert Cry is available to do a presentation for children's parties, home owners associations, schools, Scouts, and other civic organizations.
